What do I get myself into?

Last September Jen M and I decided to approach the school about starting the cheerleading program up again. They discontinued the program about 4 years previous due to a lack of interest. So after alot of talking with the schools athletic director we got the ok to start the program up again, here's the catch, we won't receive any funding from the school district. Which meant we would have to fundraise for all the programs expenses. We thought that would be ok, we could have a 50/50 raffles at each game and that would cover the little income Jen and I would be receiving for coaching the sport. When I was a sophomore in high school we got new uniforms. Sure they were 10 years old but we thought they would do, well we went to the uniform room, 2 tops and 1 skirt is what we found, and where were the pants? Well it turns out they borrowed out the items HS students and never held them responsible for returning them. So now we had to fundraise for all new uniforms for our squad. We had 50/50 raffles, sold sweatshirts, tee shirts and car stickers. We also received some donations from local business and organizations. Well after a long 7 months, we bought 8 new uniforms for the 8 girls that tried out and the little extra that was left paid Jen and I for the hours of time we put into the sport.
So now we are in our second season again fundraising, this time for pants and jackets for the girls so they don't freeze at the hockey and football games. We are also trying to fundraise to pay for part of the girls athletic fees which at $175.00 a season (they are all cheering for 2 seasons fall and winter) gets really expensive, especially for the fall season when they will only be cheering at 4 games since they can't travel on the buses or cheer at volleyball games because of the new rules, which opens up a whole big can of worms for me, but I won't get into that.
We recently had a bake sale and raised over $600.00. Which will pay for our pants and more 2 uniforms. Although we raised that amount of money we still have a long way to go to meet out goal for the year.
I have had a great time doing this for our community but again and again I ask myself, why do I take on so much?
The point I have been leading up to in this never ending post is to ask, do any of you volunteer for any activities? Is your activity funded, or do you have to fundraise as well? If you do have to, what kind of fundraisers do you hold?
I am kind of tapped out with fundraising ideas at the moment and would appreciate any ideas you might have for me!!

Carwash, rumage sale, silent auction, candy bar sales, Entertainment books (I don't know if those are universal, but I get hit up every fall by the football team.) Those are all I can think of right now! Good luck!)

(P.S. Jenny sent me!)

hi - boy are you ambitious. i had no idea they discontinued cheerleading, i guess that's how old and out of touch i am! good luck. i'll do some thinking on it for you. maybe you can get a business to sponsor you and you can advertise for them somehow or have the girls volunteer in their name or something?? as for the taking on too much, i won't offer any advice because i do the exact same thing!

How frustrating! I have to tell you I think it's awesome you put SB cheerleading back on the map! Good work!
I don't have any ideas for you right now, but if something comes to mind in the future, I'll let you know! Good luck!
